Thank you so much to all who auditioned. This was by far the hardest show we have ever had to cast. We are so happy to have the tremendous growth that our department is experiencing, but that only means that casting gets more and more difficult with every show. You are all so wonderfully talented in so many ways and we truly wish that we could cast each one of you.
We have a great mix this year of students from theatre, choir, dance, orchestra and band. We even have new people that are not involved in any fine arts class! That’s awesome that we are spreading our good theatre vibes all over the school. We have selected a cast of 12 principal actors, 29 ensemble members and 8 pit singers. The Pit singers will be on stage either up with the band or in the windows of the buildings above the shop. We hadn’t planned to do this, but we want to give as many people as possible an opportunity to participate. We know that having those 8 students devoted to vocals, will ensure that our show sounds as good as it looks.
We have decided that instead of having a full cast of understudies, we will approach a few of you individually to request you to understudy a leading role. We will not be doing a “understudy” performance per say, but we have learned that at KF, in almost every show, at least one of the understudies ends up going on for one reason or another.
You will need to accept or decline your role before Monday at 7:10 am. Please email Ms. Rhodes at email@example.com with the subject line entitled “Cast Acknowledgement.” The email just needs to state if you are choosing to accept or decline your role. We ask that if you are hesitant to accept, that you give yourself the weekend to carefully consider it, because we will be upset if you accept and then later decide to drop the show. It takes away the opportunity from others.
This show is going to be awesome, but it is a huge huge commitment. We need any remaining conflicts ASAP….you cannot give them to us later than this coming week or they will be unexcused and you will be subject to removal from the cast. We don’t want to lose any of you, so please honor your commitment.
Rehearsals begin this coming Monday evening 10/24 from 6:00-9:00 pm. On Monday, the schedule for next week will be posted on the callboard in the BlackBox and we will also be requesting you join a facebook page and Instagram page for the cast once roles have been accepted or declined.
I am genuinely soooo very sorry that I couldn’t cast all of you. I adore all of you and would love the opportunity to get to know all of you better. If you were not cast in this show, please consider helping out backstage on the crew, or in our future productions. We would still love you to find a home in the theatre department.
Please try to have a good weekend…..each one of you is in my thoughts tonight! Thanks again for all of your efforts.
Now…..if you have actually read this entire letter…..the cast list will be posted in 30 minutes at 10:30.

The new school year is here! We are excited that you have chosen a theater class or are joining our Klein Forest Theater Club and would like to welcome you. We have an exciting year of productions and drama club events planned! The more you are involved, the better our productions and drama club events will be. There are opportunities for everyone that wants to be involved in our department. We have acting opportunities in our Mainstage Show, Thespian Showcase, Musical, One-Act Play Competition, Student-Directs and Encore. If you prefer to work behind the scenes or you just want to be involved in the productions in some way, we have various crews that are essential to the realization of our productions. Student leaders have the opportunity to become Designers and Crew Heads. You can join lighting, sound, set construction, costumes, props, publicity or stage management.
We are thrilled to announce that we will be adding an amazing new teacher to our KF Theatre Team. Mr. Chris Beineman comes to us from Texas Southern University where he has been a teacher for almost a decade. He holds an MFA in Theatre with an emphasis on Theatrical Design. Mr. Beineman is excited to be joining the team and we are very lucky to have him. It’s going to be a great year!!
The Theater club is open to anyone who enjoys theater whether they are in a theater class or not. We will hold a meeting once a month. These meetings will keep you up-to-date on what is happening in the department and will also give details about our drama club events. We will also host an event every month, to interact with the members and enjoy to company of the club. There is a 25$ due to become a member of the club and includes your club t-shirt. Drama club money is due by October 1st.
We look forward to a fantastic year at Klein Forest and know that this will be our most successful school year ever! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
